Diwali celebrations at CG this time was memorable. Counting the period from 1st to 9th Nov, it was distinct and different – more colourful, disciplined, evolved and participative with an enthusiastic and supportive audience.

The entire Complex was colourfully lit for the occasion – the driveway looked beautiful so also the areas in front of C & D Blocks – they were eye-filling.

Relatively the pollution levels – noise and smoke – were lower this year compared to the past years. The fun and fare and the noise accompanying the burning of crackers – fortunately they were less atom bombs and series of crackers – and lighting of sparkles were voluntarily restrained and not extending beyond 11 PM. Our CG Environment Protection Club driven by some of the CG children with their well crafted appeal placed on all the notice boards seems to have had a sobering influence on their peer groups as well as the parents. That set a healthy trend to what was to follow. We thank the Group for their thoughtful Initiative and look forward to similar roles from them in future too!!

DIWALI NITE on the 9th November was an amazing success both for the entertainment and the food served. `A Family Event’ as one of the audience was generous to describe, it was a total team effort with leadership provided by a few motivated and committed individuals. It was well structured and went off very well except for the time lapse which the audience graciously put up with. Can’t imagine that nearly 70 persons walked on the stage participating in different items, very few individual presentations but mostly in groups before an audience of nearly 250!!! A First in the annals of CG!!!

Inspiration for the event – the successful conduct of CG Badminton league 2013. CGBL attracted 42 participants including 15 children coming together on 3 evenings to play in a competitive spirit coupled with lot of fun and noise. It was an exhilarating experience which gave us the confidence to plan and structure Diwali Nite 2013.

CG Rockers is the creation of Digvijay. A brief meeting with Digvijay led to his agreeing to perform with his `Last Soul Standing’ alternate rock band but more importantly offering to train some of our youngsters to perform with him on the stage. The CG Rockers’ 50 minute performance was outstanding, it was well received evident from the all-round applause. An encouraging sign that CG Rockers has arrived and it is for all of us to keep it alive and take it forward under the tutelage of Digvijay.

What followed was an impressive array of individual/group presentations including solo singing/keyboard playing and group dances. The fitting finale was the Flashback Medley – reminiscent of dance sequences from some of our favourite old movies – featuring couples in appropriate colourful, period costumes. `Flashback Medley’ was a pleasant surprise to all of the audience who enjoyed it thoroughly with their continuous cheering and clapping of each couple, it was real fun. Shilpa and Hema conceived the event and brought together the couples who performed identifying themselves to the sequence..

IT WAS A GRAND EVENING TO RECALL. A BIG THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF CG CORE GROUP TO EVERY ONE ASSOCIATED WITH THE EVENT, THE TEAM LEADERS, THE PARTICIPANTS AND THEIR PARENTS AND MANY OTHERS WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THE SUCCESS OF THE EVENT.
