On the 15th August, we at CG had kept up the tradition of celebrating our Independence Day with the usual fervour and enthusiasm. The day was pleasant to encourage people to come out. Keeping in mind the heavy rains till late the previous evening, and it being the beginning of a long week end, the attendance was quite good.
Proceedings started with the hoisting of the National Flag, the honour this time went to the young generation at Celestial Greens joined by the enthusiastic sports events coordination members and those who actively work with the CG Library. Flag-hoisting was followed by the singing of the National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ and ending with `BHARAT MATA KI JAI’.
Bonhomie marked the occasion with people going round and exchanging greetings. Children were given small gifts – national tri-colour pins and sweets were distributed as usual.
Earlier on the 11th August, the CG Library team had conducted a Painting and Drawing Contest for children – TRI-COLOUR ART CONTEST – to mark the occasion. The results of the Competition in 3 age categories were announced and the winners given prizes. The art work of all the participants – about 30 in all – were also displayed providing an opportunity to the people to view the exhibits and appreciate them.
They were uniformly good, the prize-winning ones better than the rest!
